Winter Weather Information

TCIS Winter Weather Plan

Canceling school due to extreme winter weather is a difficult decision that is not taken lightly. We understand the stability that school offers students, including meals, and the hardship that finding childcare can cause for some families. However, the safety and well-being of the students and staff of TCIS is our top priority.

We will continually monitor the forecast from the National Weather Service and consult with our Bus Transportation Company, to make the best decision. We will notify families as soon as a decision is reached, but prior to 6:00am.

Communicating with families in the event of a school closing, we will notify families via:

  • Phone tree
  • TCIS website
  • TV weather alerts for Channels WCCO and KARE11

Cold Weather Cancelation Guidelines

Feels Like temperature is -30 degrees or lower.
(*At this temperature the decision to close will be considered and discussed with all parties)

Snow Day Cancelation/Early Dismissal Guidelines

Heavy snow and/or icy conditions make it difficult for school buses to travel routes safely.
